The Anglican Council in Malawi (ACM) implements transformative, faith-based programs across Malawi, focusing on early childhood development, health and nutrition, education, gender justice, economic empowerment, and climate resilience. Working through diocesan structures and community partnerships, ACM delivers impactful initiatives such as the Moments That Matter parenting program, Tiwerenge 365 ECD support, the Gender Justice girls’ education campaign, maternal and child health with Vitamin Angels, climate action under Waste Smart We Care, and community-based savings and farming programs. These efforts collectively aim to uplift lives, promote dignity, and build sustainable, inclusive development for Malawi’s most vulnerable populations.

Moments That Matter – Tiakonde Project
Partner: Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD)

A holistic early childhood development program funded by Episcopal Relief and Development. The project focusing on nurturing care for children under three, empowers caregivers, strengthens parenting practices, economic empowerment through , Child and family Nutrition, and mobilizes promoters , ECD committees faith leaders and line ministry extension workers (Ministry of Gender) to support child well-being within communities.
The Project is operational in Districts of Nkhatabay – Chilambwe site , Nkhotakota – Kapiri and Chididi Sites , Kasungu – Chulu and Simlemba Sites , Mangochi – Fowo and Kadango Sites , Phalombe – Kaledzela and Kaduya sites and Mulanje – Mpala and Milonde Sites. The program is impacting over 3,300 Households and over 3,700 under 3 children.

Tiwerenge 365 Project

An integrated education program supporting literacy and numeracy for early grade learners. It engages teachers, caregivers, and church structures to promote reading culture and inclusive education for the under six population. The project involves a holistic approach to Structural ECD where Child Health , Nutrition and Gender Justice are integrated into the program for effective programming. The program goal is to enhanced quality of life and well-being of children within Rusa Communities from TA Kapondo in Mchinji district.
In 2025, the program has enrolled over 564 (299f,265m) in 13 ECD centers of Kalulu, Chifundo ,Gwirani, Rusa 1, Rusa 2, Chombo, Masiya, Chimwanjiwa, Chigumu, Chagwilila, Tikondane, Nsulura and Katsumwa.

Savings Group Ministry
Partner: Hope International
Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment
A faith-driven economic empowerment initiative promoting Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs). The program strengthens economic resilience by fostering a culture of saving, responsible borrowing, and community solidarity and cohesiveness. Since 2018 , The ministry is now operational in three dioceses: Lake Malawi, Southern Malawi, and Upper Shire. The Savings Group Ministry aims to empower community members, particularly women, by providing financial literacy training and access to savings and loans.
In 2025 , the program has a total 278 churches reached with about 29.73K members reached .

Foundations for Farminig

Livelihoods and Economic Empowerment
Foundation for Farming is a livelihood and Resilience program funded by Hope International. The project is being implemented in the southern region in Phalombe district, Traditional Authority Jenala. To promote sustainable and resilient food and nutrition security by building community climate resilience, conserving biodiversity, advancing sustainable agriculture and technologies, and fostering environmental stewardship and spiritual connectedness among vulnerable households
This initiative equips smallholder farmers with sustainable agriculture skills and Biblical principles for stewardship. In 2025, the program has registered 20 functional farmer committees , 100 farmer members and 60 lead farmers.

Gender Justice Program

Gender EquaLity
The Gender Justice Project is a strategic initiative implemented by the Anglican Council in Malawi (ACM) with support from USPG. The project aims to address systemic gender disparities in education and promote gender justice through inclusive and community-led interventions. It is currently being implemented in Linjidzi Parish (Anglican Diocese of Southern Malawi – ADSM) and St. Peter’s Parish (Anglican Diocese of Lake Malawi – ADLM).
The project focuses on promoting equal access to education for girls and boys by addressing key barriers such as inadequate sanitary facilities, cultural attitudes, and economic constraints that disproportionately affect girls.
Activities include the construction of girl-friendly toilets, provision of menstrual hygiene support, community sensitization on gender equity, and training of church and community leaders on gender justice and child safeguarding. In 2025 , 2,000 households ,2,000 adolescent girls and 500 adolescent boys have been enrolled in the program.

Maternal and Child Nutrition
Partner: Vitamin Angels
Health and Nutrition
The Vitamin Angels Project is a vital health and nutrition initiative implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and supported by Vitamin Angels. The project aims to improve child health outcomes by providing essential micronutrient supplementation and deworming tablets to young children, particularly those living in underserved and hard-to-reach communities across Malawi. The project distributes high-dose vitamin A supplements and albendazole deworming tablets to children aged 6–59 months. The project also involves capacity building for health care workers, providing them with training on proper administration, tracking, and community sensitization.
Over the past years , the project has supported the following districts: Karonga , Nkhatabay , Rumphi, Nkhotakota, Kasungu , Mchinji , Neno, Blantyre , Phalombe , Mulanje , Nsanje and Chikwawa.

Disaster Management and Emergency Response
Anglican Alliance
Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Response
A pilot project , supported by the Anglican Alliance aimed to strengthen community resilience in disaster-prone areas. Building on previous engagements and ongoing collaboration, the programme focuses on two dioceses: Southern Malawi and Upper Shire. It integrates the Church and Community Mobilisation Process (CCMP), Disaster Risk Management (DRM), and Agents of Change (AoC) training. A selected group is currently being trained and supported to carry out action research in two communities. The programme is ongoing and aims to generate scalable models for resilience that can be adapted across Malawi, the Province of Central Africa, and the broader Anglican Communion.
Recent engagements have brought together ACM, the Anglican Alliance, and diocesan leadership to align efforts and guide the next steps of this impactful initiative.

Waste Smart We Care Campaign program
Partner: United Society Partners in the Gospel (USPG)
Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Response
With support from United Society Partners in Gospel, the project aims To empower 12 Anglican Church parishes in Malawi to become effective agents of climate action by April 2027 through increased knowledge and awareness of 10,000 people, enhanced local capacities for innovation and advocacy, and strengthened community engagement in promoting environmentally friendly plastic and organic waste management practices.
The project is currently operationall in Lilongwe and Likoma in a number of parishes of Chinsapo and Kauma in Lilongwe and St Peter’s Cathedral, St Mark’s – Nkhazi, and St Michael’s in Likoma and St John’s and St Mary’s in Chizumulu.
